Planning your wedding? As you know by now, the devil lurks in the details. Your wedding florist may need some guidance to avoid flowering foolishness. Here are four problems that we want to help you avoid. At Ovation Images, we have unfortunately seen all of these issues dozens of times.

1. Delivery: “All flowers go to the church” does not work if you want pictures with your girls before your ceremony. In that case, you will need the girls bouquets and yours with you wherever you are getting ready. Insist on it.
2. Arrangement Choices: A florist that specializes in weddings and events will have a MUCH larger selection of arrangements and options than a regular neighborhood florist. Talk with your local specialist and you will immediately notice the difference.
3. Boutineer Whoops: Who pins on the boutineers? If your florist won’t be there, make sure they train someone in advance to correctly pin on the boutineers SO THAT THEY STAY PUT. Thee is nothing worse than stepping onto the dance floor with your new husband and realizing that he is dancing with you with his boutineer hanging upside down!
4. No Head Table Vases. Flowers have to lay down on the head table, not stand tall. Anything standing tall in front of you will interfere with your guests seeing your reactions to your toasts, seeing you kissing when they tap their glasses, and those tall vases will ruin all your pictures at the head table. You do not want any floral vases at your head table.

Francesca and Daniel,  June 16, 2012:

Ceremony and Reception held at:  Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
Wedding Dress from: Bridal Beginning’s
Flowers Arranged by: Heart’s and Flowers

Francesca and Daniel celebrated their wedding with and outdoor ceremony at Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh last weekend. It was a lovely day only to be outdone by an even lovelier bride!  Their hot pink touches popped against all of the flowers the conservatory boasted- the groom even had a pink watch! It was an amazing day at a truly unique Pittsburgh wedding venue.

You put a lot of work into your big day, right down to every last… crumb! Food is an important part of any wedding, so here are some tips to help make sure your guests stay full and satisfied so they can dance the night away!

  • Be alert for vegetarians—they are everywhere–including at your wedding. Make sure your caterer has some vegetarian fare to offer.
  • A long night of dancing can have your guests working up an appetite! Consider having hors d’ oeuvres served late in the evening as the party is winding down so your guests can refuel!

Everyone at Ovation Images, Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer, recognizes that the flower girl is a very important member of your wedding party. They are always so cute and can really bring a lot of fun to your big day! If your flower girl is outgoing and gregarious, coach her to flip the flower petals over her head as she walks down the aisle. This will be big hit with your guests. Plus, it will create some great wedding photography!

Ovation Images Wedding Tip #6:

Where and when are your flowers being delivered? If you want pictures with your bridesmaids before the ceremony, then you need to have the flowers delivered where you are getting ready—NOT to the church. Have the florist or a friend take the boutineers to the guys. This will ensure you get some fun flower shots- a must for all Pittsburgh Weddings!
